It's Been Awhile

It's been awhile since I have posted anything in my blog. My hours were cut so drastically where I was working that I decided to pack it in. It was costing me almost as much in transportation as I was getting for a three hour shift. Right now I am taking a LIT course and there is a co-op involved. I don't have much hope that there will be a job at the end of it though. Things have gotten to be pretty dire in Ontario.

Right now the Olympics in China are taking place and I am watching a very good documentary on CNN about peaceful protests of Tibetan and Burmese monks. They have so much strength and I hope that they manage to retain some cultural identity. There has been enough loss of interesting peoples in the world including our own first nations. We lose something every time a culture is annihilated. I have decided not to watch the Olympics this year.

Another thing that really ticked me off was the fact that Hudson's Bay Company had the clothes for our athletes made in China instead of Canada. It's a real slap in the face. I have nothing against the Chinese people but why are we supporting a repressive regime through trade policies that have actually hurt North Americans in the process?
